Newsletter 119
Hola.
I really miss newsstands. The one on the street where I grew up was recently removed, although it hasn't worked for years. There are none near my house.
I keep buying magazines and it pains me to see that there are fewer and fewer opportunities to buy them. There are only a few oases like the News & Coffee kiosks where you can buy foreign magazines (and taste great coffee) but not much else.
This week I went to one of the places in Madrid where I like to go at least once a month and have a good time looking at its contents, the design, the feel of the paper...
It is a neighborhood stationery store run by a couple and it is one of my favorite places in Madrid. It's called La Boutique de la Prensa. I remember that the first time I entered, when the owner saw my astonished face, the first thing he said to me was: "we accept credit cards".
When I was a teenager, I always bought my movies and basketball magazines. Of course, there was no internet and it was the only way to be informed. You even took a look at the "adult" magazines, which were hidden so you couldn't see those covers that foreshadowed something interesting...
I think it will be hard enough to stop buying magazines. It's like books. Something has the paper that continues to attract me.

The concept of practice is an integral aspect of being human: doing something repeatedly, making errors and learning from them, operating at the edges of your ability, and, most valuable of all, the satisfaction gained from improvement.Practice is more than just repetition of behavior—it’s a movement of energy that creates a fissure in us to reveal what’s within. More movement, more revelation. Among the many things we discover about ourselves when engaged in the practice of writing or dance or making music is how to live with meaning and intention, which is perhaps the most important discovery of all.
